RAYMOND C. CHO

Partner

Raymond C. Cho was born in Seoul, Korea and reads and speaks Korean fluently. After moving to Hawaii as a child and graduating from St. Louis High School in Honolulu, he attended George Washington University in Washington D.C., where he received a B.A., cum laude, in 2000 with a double  major in Economics and International Affairs.

Raymond returned to Hawaii after college and enrolled in the University of Hawaii, William S. Richardson School of Law, where he received his J.D., with honors, in 2005. Raymond focuses his practice in the areas of bankruptcy, foreclosure defense, and business law. He is admitted to practice law before all Hawaii courts, the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii, and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Hawaii. He is also a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association.

VAN-ALAN H. SHIMA

Partner

Van-Alan H. Shima was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. After graduating from the University Laboratory School in Honolulu, Van attended Georgetown University in Washington D.C., where he received his B.A., cum laude, in 1998, with a major in International Affairs. Van subsequently worked for three years in the White House and the U.S. Department of Justice before enrolling in Columbia Law School in New York City

While in law school, Van was a member of the Columbia Law Review and a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar; he received his J.D., cum laude, in 2004. Following graduation, Van served as a law clerk to the Honorable Paula Nakayama of the Hawaii Supreme Court.

Van focuses his practice in the areas of bankruptcy, foreclosure defense, and co-counsels with other law firms in class action litigation to protect Hawaii consumers. He is admitted to practice law before all Hawaii courts, the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii, and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Hawaii. He is also a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association.
